The Mother's Tree - A Musical

The Mother's Tree story

A group of hungry animals in a time of famine band together as a community in the search for food. Discovering a tree laden with fruit but inaccessible, they journey one after the other to the Earth Mother in an effort to learn the tree's name so that it will feed them. They learn about patience, forbearance, determination, empathy and humility as they struggle with each of their own natures. The littlest one among them turns out to be the key to their community's survival in this original story adaptation by B. Glenn-Copeland, a tale often called 'The Name of the Tree' amongst the Bantu speaking peoples of Africa. In one form or another it has been handed down for hundreds of generations.

This play is available for communities, theatre groups and schools.
